Spanish is Going Well

I am doing Living Language Ultimate Spanish and writing my own phrases and dialogs with Google Translate. I’m on Lesson 30 (Lección Trienta) and it’s going well. I’d say at this point I know between 800 to 1000+ words. I forget them and remember them randomly. I need to learn much more about grammar and such, but hopefully I will get better at that. I’m more into vocabulary anyway. Espero ser buena en español en cuatro meses, más o menos — which means I hope to be good in Spanish in four months, more or less. (I wrote the Spanish phrase with a tiny bit of help from Google Translate, but I got it 97% correct the first time, on my own! LOL! Hey, it’s a start!)

I’m also going to start French and will be using either Assimil French with Ease or Living Language Ultimate French for my first course (and using Google Translate). I haven’t decided between Assimil or Living Language for my first course yet. I’ll only do about a chapter per week, because I focus mainly on Spanish. Also, about twice a week, I will be going over the little bit of Hebrew I already know. I don’t want to forget the Hebrew I’ve already learned.

Estoy Aprendiendo Español

I think I wrote the Spanish title correctly! LOL. I have been studying Spanish a lot this month. Maybe 50 hours or so for the month of July 2010. I’ve learned a lot, but I have a ways to go.

I also study a little bit of Hebrew. I plan to start studying Hebrew a couple of hours a day or more (like I currently do with Spanish) when I am done learning Spanish and French to an intermediate or advanced level. So maybe within 12 months to 18 months hopefully.

I also want to learn Portuguese. Since Portuguese is so similar to Spanish, it should be fairly easy to learn once I can distinguish between “false friends” and the like – and get the rhythm, etc of Portuguese. I will also most likely study Italian to as it is a romance language and might be fairly easy to learn after learning the other romance languages.

I’d like to be at an intermediate to advanced level in Spanish, French, Hebrew, Portuguese and Italian within 18 months to 24 months. Of course, I would still love to be fluent in English! (My native language)

After learning Spanish, French, Hebrew, Portuguese and Italian, I’d like to maybe start with German or Chinese (Mandarin). Maybe I’ll do both at the same time, but focus on Mandarin.

There are other languages I’d love to learn too, like Japanese, Arabic (Modern Standard Arabic/Fusha, Levantine and Egyptian), Hindi/Urdu,Swahili,Swedish, etc. Many more. So, we’ll see if I can get around to all of them!

I really want to start learning languages. I have been inspired. So I will see how it goes. I plan to write more about it soon!

Awww, 2 of My Shows Were Canceled!

A little follow up to this post. 2 shows that I mentioned that I liked – Better Off Ted and Happy Town – have both been canceled. That is so not cool.

But on a brighter note, “V” is still a go! It was in danger of being canceled, as ratings weren’t that great, but it made it for another season! W00t!

I don’t even think Better Off Ted, which I love, is listed there, so I think it has no chance. “V” is listed there, and I didn’t even know it was in trouble of being canceled.

I hope it doesn’t get canceled, because I like the show. Although, I don’t see where it’s going. No good “arc” or plots to the show seem to be happening. No good mysteries to figure out or anything (well there is the “Who is Tyler’s Biological Father?” mystery.) But I like the premise of the show, and I think it has potential, so hopefully they’ll come up with something.

On another note, I’m looking forward to the new show Happy Town. I hope it doesn’t disappoint or get canceled (if it’s good!)

Adding More Variety

Since my blog is called Oh This and That, I really need to start blogging about a variety of things and not just boring updates about what I am doing – which is usually nothing!

I guess I’ll just post some things about TV shows and such. I don’t watch many shows though. I could do celebrity gossip, but I try not to dwell on that too much.

I may rant about General Hospital soon if this insane story line with Kristina accusing Ethan of beating her up – when it was really her crazy boyfriend Kiefer – doesn’t end soon! Ugh, I tell you that story line is driving me mad! I hardly ever watch this show, so I don’t even know why I’m bothering with it anyway. But I’ve been watching it on and off for years and years now. I adore Steve Burton (Jason Morgan), so I stop in to see him from time to time!

Something else to write about would be news like the actor Chris Evans being chosen to play Captain America. I’m not really into Captain America, but I do like Chris Evans’ other work, so I plan to check the movie out when it’s released!

I guess that fact that I’m a Truth Seeker (or what people call a conspiracy theorist) makes writing about News, Celebrity Gossip, TV Shows, Movies, Sports, Religion – just all those things to blog about – sort of hard to do, because my opinion or thoughts are going to be far away from what the majority of the world wants to talk about, read about, think about.

I do plan to start a truth seeker blog someday where I will write about all of those things, but on a blog like this, it doesn’t seem like a good idea. This blog is just for fun and random stuff. So, I will keep with the small rants about General Hospital and movie information about actors I like such as Chris Evans, and of course, short posts about my boring life (which I really don’t like writing about either, because my life is not anyone’s business – and really no one cares anyway! LOL! ).

So, I’ll write about tons of things, but it will be in a casual manner – nothing too serious. Bye for Now!

School! School! School!

Hola! I have been going to school and taking math, English, Spanish, writing and other things. It’s my own special brand of school! So, I’m still busy as ever. I also got some work at one of my jobs that pays well per hour, and that I’m pretty happy doing! So, that’s cool! Well, that’s all for now. Until next time!

Hi! What’s Up?!

Just saying a quick hello! I like to write on this blog at least once a month. Nothing much going on, still the same ‘ol. Later, I do want to write about 2 TV shows I started watching recently. One is Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on the Food Network, hosted by Guy Fieri. And the other one is Man v Food on The Travel Channel, hosted by Adam Richman.
