Shalom!

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

Just dropping by my blog to say Hello! Shalom! I’m still studying Hebrew and can now say a few short sentences! I only study 20 or so minutes a day, but now that I have a Zune player to store my files on I plan to study much more now. At least that’s the plan! :)

Shalom!

My Hebrew Lessons Continue

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Wow, I haven’t written in a while! Well, I’m still studying Hebrew. I learned the Aleph-Bet and I can now read Hebrew fairly well. But I still don’t know what most of the words mean. LOL! However, I do know several Hebrew words now; I guess about a few hundred. So that’s good.

I still plan to start back up with French and Spanish. I’m not sure when though. Well, that is all for now. I plan to write more soon!

Now I’m Learning Hebrew

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Ok, I’ve put Spanish and French on hold to learn Hebrew. I’ve been at it for about two weeks or so now. I can remember some words and phrases. It’s fun. I watch Big Brother Israel to help me with Hebrew. It has a 24 hour Live Feed of the Big Brother Housemates and they all speak Hebrew, so that helps.

I mostly study with the Learn Now! 101 Languages of the World from Transparent Language. And I also have a Hebrew / English phrasebook by Lonely Planet. Plus other resources. I’m going to get the Learn Hebrew Now! 10 from Transparent Language as soon as I can.

I might start up with Spanish while still doing Hebrew, but I’m not sure. I’m also tempted to learn Finnish, because I got the Big Brother Finland Live Feeds on a whim and it would be nice to know what they are saying. LOL! I study it a tiny bit, but ultimately I don’t think I’m going to go for Finnish right now. Maybe someday.

I’ve Started Learning Spanish Again

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

There are so many ways to learn different languages. One good way is watching DVDs of my favorite movies and choosing Spanish or French as the audio and/or subtitles.

Yesterday I watched part of Transformers and set the subtitles to Spanish and just read from there as I listened to the movie. And I learned a few words just from that. So, I’m going to keep that up and also learn from language software like Transparent Language: Learn NOW!

I’ve started Spanish already, but I’ll be starting French soon as well.

Learning French and Spanish

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

I really need to start studying French and Spanish again. Last year I started studying both languages about 30 minutes each per day and I was really learning a lot. I can still remember a lot of the words and phrases I learned from last year.

I love culture and languages, and want to learn about many of them. So I really need to stop being so darn lazy and get with it.

Since I seem to have an easy time retaining some languages, once I’ve learned them - especially French - I should take that advantage and put it to good use.
